Rich Learnings was a presentation given by a retiring executive vice president to the Adventist Health System corporate management community about what he's learned during his career. This book was created from the content of that presentation and was presented to the executive vice president in recognition of his 30 years of service to the company.
The goal was to create an alternative to the traditional corporate retirement gifts—a plaque, a trophy, or a resolution—to present something that held intimate and relevant value to the recipient.
I was brought on to create the visuals used for the original presentation, which I then converted into a hard-cover book. I worked alongside the creative services team who gave insight on when the iconography worked well or was too on-the-nose.
Rich learnings
I challenged myself to remain within the parent brand expression although it falls outside of standard corporate communications jurisdiction. I treated this as an exercise in finding playful space in our visual language. The result was warmly received by my team, by the requesting client and also the recipient. This episode has also infleunced a new segment of the parent brand expression.
